Welcome to the forum Gina.
If you really like those gobies, you could start with a read through of this earlier thread by one of our members. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/265461-crafting-the-perfect-desert-goby-tank

Thankyou ,

I had gold fish when i was little but of coarse my mum knew nothing because they died and she says dont get fish because they will die but I bet she did not cycle the tank and treat them properly.

I want to get a new pet so I thought of a horse , Thats near impossible ,way too expensive and time consuming.

Me and my mum will have to get a new dog in a year or two and i thought of owning it out right , but the vet bills are very expensive so i think il leave it to her.

So of coarse now i thought of fish , not too expensive just have to save for the tank! But of coarse she does not agree because of the experiance she had ,but she did not look up enough about fishes so they died quicker!!

I have a hampster thats pretty old ,Il wait till he goes and there will be more room in my room. And in the mean time il have a look around this site.It also gives me plenty of time to figure out if i really want them.

You could easily get in trouble thinking you only need the tank. There are some tanks sold with kits of a filter and a heater and a cheap lid, but they cost far more than a bare tank. Other costs are the gravel or sand for the tank bottom, a chemical testing kit, a dechorinator for water changes, a separate bucket for water changes and of course some fish food. If you can save enough for a new tank and some fish, you might be able to pick up a good used tank with plenty of the extra kit for the same or less than a new tank. That should leave you enough money to then get the parts that were not included. It is not as much fun as buying new, but if you are on a tight budget, it can get you started for half or less compared to buying all new.

Another great source for equipment and even for fish is a local fish club auction. I recently picked up a bare 20 gallon tank for $3, two large sponge filters for another $2 for both and lots of live fish and plants for very low prices compared to a fish shop. I even managed top pick up enough natural colored gravel to fill the bottom of the tank deep enough to plant my new plants for $2. Just s a reference, a new 20 gallon with nothing else is about $30 around here most of the time. Sponge filters sell new for around $8 each and gravel is around $15 at a fish shop for the amount I got. We have a local clubs directory here. Most clubs have an on line presence where you could look up their next auction date. Be sure you know what things are worth before going so you don't pay more than you should for whatever you buy.
