Yeah, I see how you have a problem, keeping a little pacu like that with a cichlid which is beating the crap out of it. At this rate, it will probably die soon. The swim bladder problem is probably related to stress.

By the way, did you know that quite a few pacu species grow to 100+ cm long?

ohs ok.. so thats the swim bladder problem? i never seen one before i searched it and i knew what it was but never knew it can get that bad..... what should i do? i have a 70 gallon tank w a flowerhorn and parrot fish and a oscar....and those fish will kill anyone thats new in that tank so putting anyone inside that tank is out of the question...the red devil is very happy in that tank.... yes i never knew pacu's get that big... my shop near my house was selling them for super cheap cause they have a alot of them in stock.. they were selling one 3 feet big for 5$...... sad.... but i didnt know before hand they get this size therefore i would have just bought a piranha or something that doesnt grow over 1 feet +++++++++
thanks for the fast reply

Hello welcome :)

that pet shop sounds so dodge seelling fish that cheap when did you buy it and put it in your tank?

As it is clear your yellow fish is slowerly killing it, by bashing it in the head and into the glass.

your fish may have some swimm bladder, which is cause by srtess and also if the temp in the tank has rose or falled quickly. check your heater.

also your fish may have got swimmbladder if u didnt allow ur fish to heat to same water temp in tank while in bag?

YOU MUST TAKE IT OUT OF THE TANK away from YOUr YELLOW FISH, ASAP. and see if this fish improves on its on in a hospital tank. it will need some stress coat, to help reduse stress and then you will have to give it a medical treatment, and it may live as i see in your video when it stops it is fine, i think if anything it is very stressed from anytime your other fish moves. but yes it may also have minor brain damage too. hope this helps. good luck :)

also these fish may not get along in nature, and you need to look into this.

Research *all* fish before you even consider buying them. Return the pacus to the shop and (if you have any basis to do so), demand your money back, and never buy anything from that shop again.

ALSO THAT TANK I NOT ANY WHERE NEAR BIG ENOUGH FOR YOUR SORT OF FISH!

hi and welcome to the forum, i would personally take kitykats advice and try and return the fish

bought it like 3 months ago but had red devil for 6 months at the time....i asked why so cheap and they said cause a lot of people dont want them cause they are grow fast or they are TOOOOOO big ....but when i bought they were all small...n they didnt have the big ones i saw ... i know research your fish before buying them BUT WHO IN THE WORLD sells fish that get big in the market like your local pet store?

Shops out to make money, who have no concern for the animals' welfare. It happens quite often, unfortunately :(

Since it doesn't sound like you can take them back, the next best option is to donate them to a public aquarium.

Not to be harsh but by the sounds of the above you WERE warned that they'd get big......

That little pacu is getting full-on attacked, not just a bit of territorial aggression or anything. I'm surprised the little guy is even still alive :(

Rehoming is pretty much your only option here. These fish really aren't suitable for home aquariums anyway.

thanks guys well i just moved him to the other tank .. the only guy picking on him is the flowerhorn... but its not as bad as in the previous tank.... that video i showed you all that was that 2nd time this happened so it got me concerned... sorry for the late night reply i was tired..... that shop said that when i went back to buy food, dog food etc... i questioned them because i seen a lot of pacus but it was too late because i had already bought it the month before....
THANKS guys i will defineltly stay active in this forum i loved the fast replies which = a large fishforums community ;)

this is too sad. and he is still being picked on? yes it is a very good forum IMO, a lot of sound advise here

not right now... its very hard to tell immediatly cause they like to do this when there is no one in the room... that tank is in my room... im up late writing care plans (school work) and other things and i heard the thumps and water splashes around 1 am thats why i knew he was getting picked on.....so i removed him and guess what the other pacu in the video the bigger one was getting picked on after i got rid of the small one... so i threw every one in the 70 gal tank .... as in now they look ok.... but we will see....
thanks
