Hi I am new to this forum. I have always loved fish and have had some for the majority of my life. We recently added two new fish to our tank from a different store, about a week and a half ago, and now all of our fish have died...So I'm here really looking for advice and if there is anything I could do to prevent this from happening again.

I assume you don't have a quarantine tank. I recommend you get one and quarantine new purchases for three or four weeks before adding them to main tank. When I say purchases I mean all including fish, shrimp, snails etc.

Where abouts in Michigan are you from if may ask? And it is a good possibility that those fish went into some kind of shock? I agree with dave with the quarantine tank. Could of possibly stressed the other fish out

This could be down to several reasons.

Sorry if these seems silly questions for you but best to ask anyway.

Is your tank cycled?

If you're not sure what I mean, have a look at this -

Water parameters?
Readings of ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrates reading may help determine what may have happened.

Quarantining new livestock for at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to adding new livestock to main tank tank is generally the best method as this gives you a chance to make sure the new livestock are not carrying diseases or parasites. (Even some of us are guilty of not doing this as well!)

Were there any symptoms from fish before they died? gasping at water surface, lethargy, unusual swimming, rapidly breathing etc

Answering all of these may help find out what happened, the more info you can provide, the better.

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Secondly, I am so sorry for your loss.

I think it is perfectly normal once in a long while?

My friend who owns a pet store told me that sometimes the whole aquarium will be infected and caused all the fish died.

Maybe you can tell us a little bit more about your tank?

Just a reply to clementchee about it being NORMAL to loose all your fish as he puts it "once in a long while". I don't know who is friend is who told him this but I for one would not go to his shop if that's the type of advice he gives his customers and friends.
