Hello :) I am andy_gtfc, but you can call me Andy if you want. This forum looks very good I must say so I intend on staying here for a while so you lot can give me advice :) I am very much a beginner with fish tanks, getting my own for Christmas, a 48 litre tropical tank with accessories. Sorry if some of my questions seem a bit 'noobish' but it is because I am a beginner and I would like clarification before I do it.

My fish tank became cloudy after I set it up and left it to stabilize, so I did a bit of research and it appeared that it was a bacterial bloom, so I have just done a 25% water change so hopefully that will clear up soon.

Hope to see you all around and get to know some of you :)

Many Thanks

hey Andy, another yellow belly on board!

welcome, to TFF and have a good look around. :good:

welcome to the forum, you've made a wise choice!

does indeed sound like a bacterial bloom. Give it a few days and see if it clears itself, otherwise come back and ask for some tips to clear it.

Thanks, it started appearing on Thursday night, and this morning I have done a 25% water change, so hopefully it will clear over the next couple of days :)

:hi: to the forums!

Are you cycling your tank? If you are then it is most likely a bacterial bloom. ;)

Welcome to the forum Andy. A bacterial bloom can happen at anytime during the cycling of a filter. There is plenty of advice in the new aquarium setion, the most helpful ones are pinned to the top of the forum to stop them being lost.

Thanks minnnt :) I'll have a look and pin it to my bookmarks :)

Also, if you check out the members willing to donate cycled media thread i beieve there is some members from lincolnshire that may be able to help you out and get you on your way alot quicker than fishless cycling for X amount of weeks.

Hey guys I am back :) I have started again, and got water out of the tank that was already cycled and put that water in my tank instead, so hopefully that will speed up the cycle instead. Glad to be back here as well :)
