Hi All

I have recently purchased my first tropical tank which is a juwel rio 125 litres.

I have just added my first fish some zebra danios and am looking for some ideas as to what other fish to add into my tank. I would like to achieve a nice community tank with a couple of cichlids to finish with and would really appreciate any ideas of combinations from more knowledgeable members and I look forward to hearing from anyone with any ideas they may have.

Welcome to the forum, you will meet some weird but wonderful people on here :)

Welcome!!

Theres lots of knowledge on this forum. What size is your tank?

Edit: oh... you seem to have wrote the tank size already...

I usually get alot of mine on trade it or at the new fish shop on the A38 in Patchway...
Which side of Bristol are you?

Hi im from just outside bristol, Keynsham way, and ive been getting my fish from The garden centre on the brislington bypass by the park and ride. They give some good advise too.

Hi All

Thanks for the warm welcome, I will have to pop out to the places you have suggested to take a look.

I have brought my fish from Cadbury Garden Centre and all are currently thriving.

So far in my tank I have 8 Danios, 4 Platy's (2 red & 2 gold) and 6 Rummmy Nose Tetras. I am thinking that I will probably finish off with some Tiger Barbs as I do not want to overstock the tank.

Have a good day.

Personally, I would do some shopping around as I find cadbury garden centre rather expensive x

Hi Amy

Yes you are probably right, Cadbury can be quite expensive but as I am new to this hobby other factors became more important to me such as quality of fish and buiding up a relationship with the staff. I got my tank else where as that was £150 cheaper but with respect to the fish I have brought so far they are thriving and Cadbury maintains what I consider a good fish section and all their fish seemed to continually look healthy.

I did do a bit of travelling around and I went to a few places where I could of got my fish cheaper including the garden centre next door but every time I went in there I always seemed to see at least one dead fish in a tank somewhere and I used to go in a lot after work. I went to Cheddar they have a nice set up out there though and Blagdon Water Gardens as well.
