Hello everyone,

My name is Mark and I live in Northumberland in the north east of England, UK. I have been keeping fish since I was 8 years old and I'm now 56, with only maybe 10-12 years in total where I have been without them. Over that time I have had hundreds of tanks and have kept most things, from Mbuna Cichlid tanks to Discus Planted tanks and Reef Aquariums.

I have kept many tropical freshwater fish and bred a few of them, including several tetras, barbs, plecos and Angelfish. I have had 5 reef aquariums, the last being a 6x2x2 tank, which was broken down in 2009. I have had racks of smaller tanks when I was breeding fish. I've probably had 80+ tanks at once at one point. That was about 25 years ago now though.

My last two tanks were small (for me) planted tanks, one was a Betta tank and the other was a community with Rasboras, Ram Cichlids and Angelfish. Those tanks were broken down when I moved home 4 years ago though and I have been fishless since then. Here is a pic of them.

It has now reached the point where the new house is sorted and I need to scratch that fish keeping itch again, so I am currently awaiting delivery of a new 6x2x2 tank and cabinet for my new planted tank. According to the manufacturer it should be ready for delivery in about 2 weeks time. As you can imagine I'm waiting excitedly for that!

It seems like I'm having deliveries of equipment, hardscape and substrate almost every day at the minute, getting everything together ready for when the tank arrives. I'll start a journal to go over all that though.

I think that's enough about me for now. If you want to know anything else feel free to ask. :)

Welcome to the forum :hi:

If you're not too far north in Northumberland, I can recommend a trip to Horizon Aquatics in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. They're aquascaping specialists.

Thanks! I know the place. Great shop, their aquascape gallery is awesome!

Welcome to TFF! Another northerner to add to our ranks! :hi:

Hi Mark,
Welcome to our forum... :hi:
The interiors of these two tanks look great...!👍

Are there a lot of UK members here? Sounds like it if there are quite a few northerners. That's good.
There is a decent-sized group of members from the UK on this forum, some more active than others :) . I find the best part of this forum is that its members come from all over. Sharing experiences and knowledge on many things! Usually fish hobby-related ;)

I've been looking for somewhere to chat fish keeping stuff. Sounds like I might have found a new home. :good:
