Hello hope i will get some good advice and meet a few good friends, been looking at the forum now for a few weeks and looks good and very informative. I just cycled a 30g tank and have got a few fish in mind for a start of my fish keeping hobby, so any advice from you good people.

My fish tank test all week have been good and think is ready for fish now? using API liquid test kits.

pH 7.2

Ammonia 0ppm

Nitrite 0ppm

Nitrate 5.0 - 10ppm

Just a plain set up with no real plants just silk and plastic for now but hopefully be moving on to real as time goes by, here are some fish that i have on my list:)

Honey Gourami 3

Pearl Gourami 2

Cherry Barbs 5

Cory Cats 6

I will swoop fish if anyone comes up with any other fish suited for a learner.

Think this forum is so good and tonight had to join :)

Keep up the good work :good:

Have you been adding ammonia?

Because if not you haven't cycled. And your readings would stay that way no matter how long you leave it.

You need to grow bacteria in the filter. They feed on ammonia producing nitrite, another bacteria feeds on that producing the much less harmful nitrate.

If you haven't added any ammonia, then there has been no food for the bacteria and you won't have any.

If you have added then those levels are exactly what you're aiming for.

If not have a read through the cycling articles in the beginners resource section.

And last but not least. Welcome to the forum

If i haven't boots sold me the wrong stuff :) for two months.

Excellent.

As for stocking I'm not the best but it looks like a good initial stocking to me.

I think you could eventually up the cities to about 10 and the same with the barbs. But I could be thinking of the wrong gouramis. How big do those ones get?

Thank's :)

Well the honeys get to about 2.5 inch pearls 4inch and barbs 2inch and cats all depends what sort about 2.5inch

So hope these will be ok :)

How about:

Honey Gourami 3

Pearl Gourami 2

Cherry Barbs 8

Cory Cats 6

Always like to keep barbs, tetras, rasboras (etc) in big groups. I would add half to two thirds stock now and then trickle the rest in over the next few weeks. Some say you should full stock right away but I think patience pays off, even after a fishless cycle. Better safe than having an unforseen ammonia spike!

what kind of corys there are many different kinds out there.

as always i like khuli and mysteries. aftican dwarf frogs make an intresting addition as well.
