I decided to acquire a fish earlier this year. I had an adorable betta which I inadvertently killed when I decided to move him to a bigger tank. 
In my overzealousness, I added him to the tank too soon, and it shocked his system. The pH was much too high, and I am grieving.
That being said, I have purchased a marble colored molly this afternoon, and will add a new betta to the mix in the near future.
I'm happy to find a forum where I can learn from others, and avoid a repeat of my earlier mistake.
