Hi my name is Tawnya. We recently inherited a 55 gallon tank and fan tail oscar when my husband's friend passed away. Since have added a jack Dempsey and a peacock. Can anyone tell me what kind he is?

Keeping Rift Lake cichlids (the peacock) with American cichlids (oscar, Jack Dempsey) is not a good idea, I'm afraid. They have evolved on different continents and cannot understand each other's signals. Rift Lake cichlids should only be kept with cichlids from the same lake.

If possible, I would return the peacock to the shop.

No help sorry but just to echo what Essjay said Africans and Americans rarely do well together so I would recommend returning them. Also concerned about a veil tail Oscar with a jd too
