Well, here is my fish story. If I put you to sleep here.
I think that my fish obsession started when I was a young girl, my mom thought it would be a good idea to get me and both of my older brothers little fish bowls. And she filled them with feeder gold fish. Every morning all mine would be dead little did I know in the middle of the night my brothers were taking my fish out so they died :[ good way to pick on me I guess. After about 8 different times back and forth to petsmart everyday I gave up.
My parents had a small ten gallon tank when I was a kid as well, angels and neon tetras I believe, and what's a tank without a pleco.
SO.
About 4 months ago, I was at a liquor store, which just happened to be next to my favorite fish store. I figured I would take a walk in and look around and I came out with the cutest gold fish! I had forgotten I needed declor so to my demise, he died four days later.
I then purchased a 2.5 gallon fish tank which I had put in two mollys, an african dwarf frog and a banjo cat. Had that for a couple of weeks when i decided to buy a 20 gallon tank! Etc etc etc.
Couple of weeks later I decided to upgrade to a 55 gallon (very very fast progression I know).
ANYWHO! BACK ON POINT.
Here is what I have in my tank right now.
My stock includes:
3 amazon puffers
2 kissing gourami
1 blue gourami
1 gold gourami
1 black ghost knife fish (very small, no more than 2 inches right now, and yes I know I WILL need a bigger tank in the future)
1 striped peacock eel
2 banjo cats
and I plan on adding two or three panda corys, 2 pearl gourami, and two silver tipped sharks, which I ALSO AM aware that they will need brackish when they start getting into adulthood.
So there is my tank! Any cool fish I could add to my stock or suggestions, opinions anything. COMMENT! :] have a great day!

hello
wow u got alot o fish :) how did u get ur puffers to live with other fish!?

hi there and welcome to the forum!

think we all do what you have done and get addicted to fish keeping very easily!! glad to see that you have upgraded your tank!

i have a few concerns though...sorry!! firstly you didn't mention how your tanks were cycled? what are your water parameters? your stocking is going to lead to problems i'm afraid. the fish you have in there are not really compatible and some will grow WAY too big for your tank. i would not suggest any other stock for your tank. you are pretty much overstocked as it is. you really need to sort out the stocking you have just now before you add anything else. please research the fish you have and you will see that there are compatibility issues there. i can tell that you really care about your fish and am sorry to be the bearer of bad news! good luck.

my recommendations are ...
1. if you haven't allready ..get a nice big external filter :)
2. if you havent allready... add a few nice looking live plants :good:
3. try not to develop M.T.S (multiple tank syndrome)

The only other thing i can think to say is well done on the puffers not eating your other fish like mine tried :X :good:

Good morning and welcome to the forum! :good: Sorry to say, but I too see quite a few stocking problems here. You may not have trouble now, but I see alot of problems in the near future. Please, do a little research on the fish you already have before you get any more. And there is nothing wrong with MTS (multi tank syndrome). I have it myself and life is grand!

unless you have limited room :(
i have allready had to remove the tv and sound system in my bedroom and replace it with 2 more tanks so i guess its hit me pretty hard
although i must say , Watching the fish is more entertaining than most of the stuff on sky :good:

i'm now thinking of throwing out my dressing table and one of the wardrobes to make room for another big tank... just not the one with my shoe rack in

Is 5 tanks in a bedroom a bit overkill or am i Ok until i expand into the hallway and gradually the spare bedroom lol

i am thinking of installing a filter and heater in the bath!!! lol

I've got one up on you. I had so many tanks in the house, we couldn't move. My hubby was constantly complaining. I told him if I had a room for my tanks I could keep them all in one place and out of the way. That weekend he started building an addition on the back of the house just for me. I now have 10 tanks up and running and 10 more sitting empty just waiting to be set up :hyper:

coleen u are sooooo lucky!! i wish i had space for that many tanks....or a husband who could build!!!! :shout:

fabulous!! what are the chances of them coming to scotland and building me a fish house!! lol x

I did a fishless cycle for about a month and a half. My ph is about 7, nitrates are 0, and temp I keep between 78-80.
Yeah, I know about the size, I plan on upgrading to a 150 in a year or so, plenty of time since all of my fish are no more than 3 inches at this point. And there's no compatibility issues, I do tons of research on everything before I get them.
