Hello everyone, another novice aquarist posting for the first time

The missus and I are re-decorating, and I've managed to persuade her into getting a tropical fish tank! Success!
Unbeknownst to her, this isn't my first tropical fish tank.
Around 10 years ago, when the internet wasn't my friend and 'cycling' was something I did at the gym, I had my first tank....It went tragically wrong.
After reading some websites, and in particular the advice from members of this forum, I can pick out numerous reasons for my poor fishies dying

Anyway, a second chance is coming my way, so I thought it would be wise to find a friendly place to ask stupid questions and hopefully not get ridiculed...too much anyway
