I'm new to this forum and thanks for accepting my membership.
Though I am not new to fish keeping, this is my first tank in a few years and this time, I decided to go with Glofish. They are beautiful, active and inquisitive little creatures. I absolutely love them! I have 6 tetras and 2 barbs. The barbs are a bit crazier than the tetras. I won't call them "aggressive" because they never harm anyone so maybe "annoying" would describe them better? Like a little brother, with way too much energy? LOL! But also like little brothers, they do tend to nap often, so I guess that levels things out.
They are in a cycled, 12 gallon tank with live plants (they love them) triple filtering system and 2 air bubblers. The optimal temp seems to be 76 degrees. Any warmer and it seems to start stressing them out.
They seem to be pretty hardy fish with no signs of disease.(They have been in the tank 8 weeks now) They eat flaked food in the morning and mix of flakes, frozen shrimp brine and bloodworms for dinner.
Though they are suppose to school within groups of 5 or more but this has not happen yet, with my family of 8. Some hang out together, but no schooling.
Since they are GE (genetically engineered) there isn't a lot of long term information out there about them so I thought I would join this forum, to see if there are other Glofish keepers out there, so maybe we could bounce ideas and information to one another..
So, are there any Glofish lovers out there?
Thanks in advance and have a great day everyone!
