My name is Douglas and I live in the Dallas, TX area. I am relatively new to the hobby, though I had tanks as a kid . I have two 20 gal long tanks. I am building a sump now. Algae has always been the bane of my existence. I just ordered a UV sterilizer to help... I know "proper maintenance" should be enough, but it never seems to.

Welcome to the forum. I know that feeling well, algae is a real pain for me too. Cyano bacteria (though not really an algae) plagues me.
