Hi everyone thanks for taking time out to read this question.

The water in my tank is incredibly cloudy, it is a 120 litre Aqua One tank with an external filter and spray bar return. It is decorated with bogwood and real plants plus some inert stones such as slate. It has been becoming more and more cloudy for the past 3 weeks and nothing I do seems to stop it, water changes only help for 24 hours max.

I have 6 Three Spot Gouramies, 7 Cherry Barbs, 1 Plec and 2 Panda Corys.

My nitrates have been high but are now at an acceptable level and I recently did a 50% water change. I have had no fish deaths but my Gouramies rarely come out of hiding. This has been the case for the last 3 weeks and I cannot for the life of me find out whats wrong. It has gotten to the point that I cannot see any of my beautiful fish only patches of light and dark through the cloudyness.

Could somebody please shed any light on what is up with my tank water?
