Hello all I have had aquariums in the past some tropical and some marine, I started getting back into this hobby after I lost all my tanks to a hurricane about 20 years ago and am going from scratch, I have a built a tank that is 27 x 33 (thats what size glass I had laying around) just leak checked it and it held for two days.
I plan on making this a FOWLR tank with the option of going reef with it should I get the urge...I have a few questions and Ill post those in the appropriate forums...

Good day & welcome.... You took an awful long time to "recover" from losing your tanks....

You are in fact at the right place (if it is advice and aqua talk you're after), however, this place normally starts buzzing around 20h00(GMT)......more or less when I (here in South Africa) am getting ready for bed...... So if you post early, your post moves down the line to the back by the time the others arrive. In the meantime, move around the forum & get a feel for it..... I know it will grow on you.

Well lol it took me a long time after I lost all that I had, I had spent years and untold amounts of money and time getting things setup like I had them, I had almost 30 tanks up and running , mostly fresh water and several marine tanks, I was just sick after the power went cause I knew the marine tanks wouldnt last long, then the tree thru the living room was the icing on the cake..
I now have a set of twins and one wants to work with sharks and rays when she grows up so now I am back in it to keep her learning about marine life and how the ocean works, she does great and will watch for hours to see if anything new comes out of the LR,
I just stared a build on a tank thats 33 1/2 x 27 1/2 and it passed the leak test so now its on to makin it salt water...

Thank you lol I am not sure how much help I can be lol alot of things have changed since the day of slate bottom tanks and fiberglass filter media lol and undergravle filters lol
How is that for telling my age lol,

Sorry for your loss! I would be devastated if something like that happened to me! Glad to see you are getting back into the hobby! And yes, a lot of things have changed!
