HELLLLLP!

And here is columnaris, not the writer of this either.

Columnaris (a.k.a. Mouth Fungus)

Symptoms:

An infected fish will have off-white to gray cotton-like patches on the head, fins, gills, body and particularly the mouth. In time, these areas will develop into open sores. Gill swelling may occur, gill filaments may stick together and excessive mucus may develop in the gill area. Rapid breathing can be seen. Fins may deteriorate to the point of leaving the fin rays bare. Muscles may be inflamed and capillaries may rupture. Fish, particularly livebearers, may exhibit "shimmying". Infection may be acute (killing an infected fish within hours), or chronic (lingering for several days before eventually killing the fish). As with most diseases, not all symptoms need be present.

Cause:

The bacterium Flexibacter columnaris.

Treatment:

Ensure that your water conditions (e.g., Ammonia, Nitrite, pH, Nitrate levels, and water temp.) are within their proper ranges. If not, perform a water change and/or treat the water accordingly. Recommended medications include: Furanace, Fungus Eliminator, Fungus Cure, Furacyn, Furan-2, Triple Sulfa, E.M. Tablets, Tetracycline, or Potassium Permanganate. Medicated foods are also recommended. Columnaris can be highly infectious and may quickly kill all aquarium inhabitants; therefore, early treatment is essential. All fish, including those not yet showing visible symptoms, as well as the aquarium they inhabit should be treated.

up to the other day he was fine, he would swim about without a care in the world, none of the symptoms mentioned in that last post of urs to me, hes eating well, very well, infact he knows wen its feeding time and is straight up looking for it!

It sounds more columnaris to me.

"HAPPY DAYS!" MIKE :)

Has it been spreading fast, good luck.

no really, he has had it the same was since shortly after i got him, it just seems to be getting worse now, he has always had a slim look to him, not like wot i see in the pix u sent me!

Just to make sure no flicking and rubbing on objects or laboured breathing, those symptom can be bacterial or parasite.

Hi morphsville

ive had a couple of fish die of columnaris recently, mainly due to the fact i didnt know what med to use and one LFS gave me some crap stuff, so couldnt treat them quick enough :(

Anyway, i was fist advised to use esha 2000, however, do not use this!! it does absolutely nothing.

I then i went to pets at home and found aquarium treatment 8 (mouth rot and fungus). Ive used this, and after a day i think its made a big change! all the fish seem much happier. And a black molly that had the disease quite seriously (i mean on the verge of death) is looking much better.

So i would recommend give that a try if it is columnaris, and you havent been recommended anthing better.. :)

if its columnaris, i will keep you posted with my results..
