A heavily pregnant guppy has a bright red lump sticking out of its anus area. She's not moving much.

I've isolated her temporarily in a bucket to prevent other fish hassling her.
I REALLY want to save this fish and her babies as I don't have many guppies and they never seem to have babies (or maybe all get eaten if they give birth at night)
1. What is the matter with her
2. What treatment can I do
3. Should I put her back in her tank but in a largish breeder thing to isolate her

Are you sure thats not her birthing tube? A picture would help a lot, but since she is pregnant, considering the area the bump is in that could be it. Right before my guppy gave birth for her it was a red bump that looked very swollen, a second later 2 fry popped out But she is considered blonde so she wouldnt have a white birthing tube like normal fish. Keep a close eye on her.

If you really dont think that it is the birthing tube then you may want to post in the emergency section just in case.

Not sure what a birthing tube looks like but this is more of a roundish "bump" than a tube shape. No sign of any fry yet. As I dont have any cycled tank aavailable I've arranged a temporary maternity room in the main tank where she lives out of a large net suspended over the side. This means she is in her normal environment but safe from hassle and th ebabies(if she gived birth) won;t be eaten. I'll le tyou know what happens tomorrow.

Tried posting in Emergencies but the only suggestion I got was worms. Never had any sign of worms in any of my tanks before and haven't added any new fish this year. It looks more birth related to me

I was told it looks like a tube, but mine looked like a swollen bump. That's why i think that yours is getting ready to drop.
