Diffusion – thanks for explaining that simply for me as I would have probably not understood otherwise!

Makes sense why I was advised to hold just 25% water in the fish bags when transporting and the rest air. Instincts were telling me to fill them right up.

I did have an airpump supplied – I thought they were just for ornaments? I wont be using that if its noisy!

From the point of view of cost, it actually costs almost exactly the same to heat two identical tanks with a (for example) 300w and a 600w of heaters: a 300w worth of heaters will be on twice as long as 600w worth of heaters, but would consume half the energy per period of time. As an example:
* tank with 2*150w heaters: 300w of heaters on for 8 hours per day => 300*8 = 2400w per day
* tank with 2*300w heaters: 600w of heaters on for 4 hours per day => 600*4 = 2400w per day

Air pumps are handy to have around and have various uses like DIY CO2, hatcheries, ornament/display. Personally i think any ornaments in a tank are generally naff, i stick to bogwood and plants, rocks, slate and a couple of coconuts i've chopped in half and hid at the back of the tank for my Kribs, who totally ignore them and just bury under the bogwood instead :> d1cks

I have some wicked pieces of bogwood, soon as I get some pics I will show you.

I agree that the rocks and plants look much better and ornaments can spoil the ambiance of the tank.

Think the airpump will be staying in the box!
