Heating question...

Anybody have a clue if a 250W heater would be ok overnight for a 125 Gallon tank? My Rena Cal toplight is flaking hard on me, it's a 300W. Seems that something isn't right because I pushed air out of it a little bit ago and it started working again. The air came out of the top (not the heater area) where the thermostat is.

that will be fine, in fact I only have a 200w in my 72gall and its hardly ever on.

That's 2 watts per gallon with the 250 and I think you're supposed to have at least 3 watts per gallon but that might be off. I think it would be alright though if your location isn't too cold during the winter months and the room is decently heated.

I meant "Overnight". The rena cal isn't 2 months old and petsmart will exchange it.
