Hi, I was just curious as to whether or not breeders use a single heating device, or multiple devices. I am trying to save on the initial investment. I am going to be setting up roughly 12 tanks for a breeding center of show quality guppies. (I know, very ambitious, but I have the spare time) I plane one utilizing 5, 10 gallon tanks for juveniles and adults and 7-9 5 gallon tanks for fry. I plan to use box filtration with 3, 50 gallon air pumps. O.K. that said I am also wondering if I should use an automatic water change system. I.E. a system that will drain/fill the tanks once a week from a storage tank with aged water. I have an idea of how to do it but it can be a little complicated. Does anyone use any inventive solutions for these issues or should I just break down and buy the heaters and manually do all the water changes by hand every week.

Hey you should talk to people in the hardware and DIY sections also the best thing to do might be to put all of the tanks on one big stand and run water to and from a large sump with your big filter (in between the sump and tanks) and your big heater also taking a few space blankets and sowing them together and throwing the resulting tarpolene over your tanks will increase the eficiency of your heater and decrese temperatre fluctuation.
