recently I moved my fish tank from a 45 gallon tall to a 50 gallon. And 2 of my platys and one of my mollies has given birth to probably somewhere abound 100 fry total. I have them currently in 10 gallon aquarium. I want to move them to the 45 to give them more space. I have a 50 watt heater from my 10 gallon; can this heat the 45 gallon just very slowly? I can’t really get a new heater right now or if the 50 watt doesn’t work I have the 150 watt that I’m using in my 50 gallon could I possibly use the 150 watt in the 50 gallon during the day and heat the 45 at night? Or would I be best off just keeping the fry in the 10 gallon for now. Thanks

You need to keep temperatures of the tanks consistent. Using a heater too small for the tank even for just say 12 hours a day and then using the larger heater for the other 12 hours may not give enough consistent heat. Borrow some money and get a 200 watt heater asap.

No shot that a 50w would work in a big tank. Those heaters are good for 5 gallons and even struggle in 10 gallons.

Switching the heaters is a bad idea as well.

What is the room temperature? They may be best in the small tank for now.
