Good morning folks, as most of you will see I am new to the forum and would like to say that the site is extremely informative and I have enjoyed browsing round. I am after some advice in regards to a new heater I purchased yesterday. After a mishap with my old fluval m150 I decided to purchase a fluval E 200watt as a replacement after reading some good reviews. As it stands Ive had the heater in place for almost 24 hours and the tank temperature has still not been matched to set temperature of 26 Celsius. It rose slowly over the course of yesterday and currently is sitting at 23.5 celsius. My tank is 125 litres and as instructed by the shop assistant I ensured that the heater had adequate flow surrounding it. Im just struggling to understand why it hasnt come up to temperature as the E model I purchased states that it will heat up to 200litre aquaria. Perhaps im just being impatient and should let it do its thing but its been bugging me so was hoping someone may have experience with this model of heater. Thank you kindly in advance - Bob

Is your thermometer one of the stick on ones or a hang on one inside the tank? The stick on ones can give skewed readings as they are also affected by the room temperature. I'm not certain on the make of heater but with mine they tend to run a bit 'low' so when I set the temp to 27 it heats the tank to 25 and so on. I just set it a couple of degrees higher than the temp I'm after and that seems to work (I have internal thermometers that read the actual tank temp not stick on ones).

I'd ignore the temp markes on the heater. set you heater with a spirit thermometer, which seem the best for overall accuracy. I'd also be sceptical of the 200l claim. preferring 2x150/1x300 for that size tank.
