Hi I have got a total of 4 different heaters (only 2 in use) and none of them would heat to the temp set on the dial. For example the one have I have in my Rio 240 is set to 21.5c on the dial but heats my tank to around 24c. Its the same with all the others if they are set to something the will heat the tank to a temp a couple of degrees higher. Does this happen with all heaters or is it just me?

Thanks
Mark

I tend to have that problem with my heaters as well. I find that the temperatures on the dial are a guideline and you just have to fiddle with them to get it dialed in to where you want them to be set. It may be a few degrees this way or that on the heater but I trust my thermometers a lot more than the heater.

This time of year is very cold, so people have central heating on in there house more than normal, which could affect your tank temp.

I've noticed it affecting the temperature in my tank. So the best thing to do is turn your radiator down or off, and maybe slightly open a window. It's just wether you want to be cold or your fish tank to be the right temperature?

James.

quite a lot of the dials on heaters are innacurate. Mine is set to 27c but gets the tank to around 24.8c

try upping the dial seting 1 degree at a time to get the tank to where you want it.

I agree with zoddy,i have problems with all 3 of my heaters, the rena is set at 22 degrees, but tank temp 24.5 on the 2 themometers, and the 2 elite heaters, set at 24 degrees but heats to 22

Its a case of tweaking the dial until the temperature is steady to how you want it...

I always get it to the temp i want by trial and error but it just seems pointless putting numbers on the dial if it doesn't ever heat it to the temp set. I've noticed the problems with the temp because my central heating so have 2 small windows open all the time and the radiators in the room off. But my tank sits at 25c and I want it between 23-24c.
