I have read of people keeping their excess guppies in their ponds etc. Out of curiosty does this mean that they are fine without a heater in an internal tank? (Learning and asking out of curiosty :))

What is the recommended temp?

your Guppies should be fine if you turn of your heater guppies can take a wide temperature rang your tank temperature . This time of the year with out a heater may very from 70f + you will get a fluctuating in temperature of a few degrees this will do no harm to the fish in fact a fluctuating in temperatures is good for them,
best temp for them is 70f=76f . try not to let them go below 68f or above 76f. long term.

Hi lilacamy931

I kept some guppies out side in a tub all summer from June till September but we had an early frost late Sept and this killed them all off :(
So they can tolerate the our sumers but keep an eye on the temps if it drops to low move them indoors.

Yes, guppies are pretty tolerable fish. B-) Just don't let the temp get too high, either. Though, I shouldn't be talking, because I'm putting a heater mean't for a 20 gallon that goes outta' control, in a 10 gallon tank...

Good luck!

Ah right thanks everyone! Brill :)

I have two almost 3 tanks running and don't feel can turn heaters of in this British summer as we keep still having cold days and I wouldn't be home to keep an eye on the temperature (have dwarf puffs that need 26 and a betta needing 27/28) it is good to know on the guppies. :) Thank you

really! hello helterskelter, the water always seems to drop below 24 over night and would be worried would not remain high to keep the temperature throughout the day?

thats fine as long as the temp dont do below 16 at night they will be fine
