hi, was thinking about buying another heater for my tank so i have two, my idea was to set them to maintain my tank temp at 26/27 and to cover my back if one was to break. If one did break would the one that still worked detect the temp drop and correct it? The heaters would both be 200watts.

hope you can understand what i've wrote lol

just dont fancy waking up one morning finding my temp very low and a bust heater :X

Tanks cool off very slowly, so your not going to wake up with your tank cold, unless it is very small and your house is particulaly cold.

A far more common problem is the thermostat sticks ON, and the temperature goes too high.

For that reason, I generally use 2 heaters or thermofilters, both rated at half the requirement for the tank. If one sticks on, it does not have enough power by itself to cook the fish, and the other switches itself off.

Can't comment on your choice as I don't know how big your tank is.
