Heater Placement?

I have 2x 8" 100w Neptune heaters in my 55 gal tank, how deep nad how far apart should they be to heat the best? Right now I have them about 2 feet apart in the middle, and I have the knobs sticking out right about the tank lid.

Is that best for heat distrabution? cuz I always see one of my heaters on while the other sint, and they are on the EXCACT same settings.

What do you guys think/use?

Sounds fine to me. I prefer to fully submerge my heaters though. They are water tight, and for safety sake, i push them below the water line.

Make sure there is decent water flow around them and they should be fine and they should heat your tank sufficiently!
