Heater or no heater

I have a 45 gallon tank in my bedroom. I have a heater in it right now but I have it all the way turned down and it never turns on I dont think. Do I still need it? Is it doing anything to help my tank?

You need a heater For tropicals this way the water tempreture does not act like a rollercoaster..temp goes up and down up and down. This will put alot of stress on your fish and bring illness (Most Likely ICH) and might even kill them....you dont wont this. So yes its very Important that you have a working heater.

Also if you dont have a heater your fish will be less active and not swim as much and there color will not be as vivid and pretty as they should So unless your tank water is at a constant Temprature 24/7 I advise to get a heater.

If yours does not work...I strongly advise you too buy a new one.
