I had a disaster with a heater which has resulted in the heater coming on and cooking the tank and me suffering some livestock loses.

I don't want this to happen again and I believe you can get heater controllers which will basically turn the heater on and off and are a lot more reliable. I'm not sure what I'm looking for though so can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have in the short term now got a new heater and an alarm system set up to go off if it gets to hot or too cold but that wont help if it happens while I'm at work :)

This has always been one of my fears so I invested in a ATC 800+ from flea bay works a charm even if you heater gets stuck on it will cut the power and I am adding some AZoo fans to my sump before the summer if the tank gets to warm it will switch these on :good: :good: I run 2 heaters in my tank incase 1 fails but I must rember to check that both are working next maintenance :)

Brilliant thanks a lot, that was exactly what I was looking for :) for £28 new as well its well worth the investment.

Ah yes not cheap but much cheaper than loosing all your stock and all the heartache that would go with that

Meh forgot to add but ther would be some pay back in the summer months as your cooling would only be on for the time it is needed :) and you wont be heating water that is being cooled if that makes sense :)
