So at some point over the past 2 days my heater has broken. I was out from Xmas Eve until last night and have just noticed this morning that the temperature in my tank has dropped to 18 degrees C, with a drop of 8 degrees. I have replaced the heater, but am wondering if anyone can suggest anything I can do in the meantime. The fish themselves appear fine apart from my baby BNs :( 2 have died, whether related or not, i don't know.

Anyway, suggestions on anything I can/should do until the heater has warmed up the tank again, please let me know.

Since the new heater is in the tank now I would just leave it to heat the tank up by itself. If the temperature change is too swift it may stress the fish even more.
You will also want to keep an eye on the inhabitants over the next few days for any signs of disease brought on by stress. 18c is not that cold really, chances are they're just a little chilled and will be fine. Unfortunately baby BNs are super sensitive, hopefully you won't lose any more :(

If the temp dropped fast look out for whitespot, columnaris, and swim bladder problems.

Good news, the temperature is back to normal and the fish appear to be a lot more active too, will obviously keep my eye them, not that I don't anyway! 3 baby BNs are still alive and wiggling :)
