Well, I woke up this morning and my male had build a semi-large bubblenest. I was suprised - I had done a 25 percent water change the day before, because I had planned on gradually getting the fin rot medicine out and putting a new one in, because his fin rot didn't look like it was healing - though I figured he wouldn't notice. However, apparently, he did. Anyway, should I continue doing 25 percent water changes every day or will this wreck his enthusiasm for the nest? The female shows nothing except for very faint gold vertical bars that go halfway up her body, hardly considered good enough.

Anyway, here's a picture.
The male tending the bubble nest. This is the largest segment. I took off the lid to take this picture. There's a thin layer of bubbles going all across the rim of the water surface.

It's so cute to watch him constantly tending to the bubble nest and then swimming over to flare at the female.

my new boy built a bubble nest the other day i was shocked hed only been in there less than 2 weeks and he seems so happy. shame i have no female

the female isnt in the same tank right? and that means that he's happy so what ever your doing keep it up and it doesnt matter if his nests break he can always make one another day smile.gif

Nope. :) The male's in a 3 gallon and the female's in a 2, most of the day the tanks spend propped up next to each other.

I've had this little dude for about 3 days. ;)

The fin rot might not show any improvements over only 3 days, what ype of medicine are you using to treat with? If it's melafix, from what I remember, it says to put it in for 5 days? maybe 7, and then do a 25% waterchange, I believe, but double check if that's what your using.

But 3 days isn't long to show any improvement, give it about a week with the same medicine.

It's 'Jungle Fungus Remover' I think. -shrugs- I'll see and wait until it improves. :)

I am not sure where you are located, but if you have Melafix or Bettafix available to you, those work great, especially melafix, you really start to see improvements as you use it.

Keep us updated on how your fish is!!

Thank you for showing us the picture of your fish making the bubble nest. That looks so cute. :)
