Hc Carpet

For a carpet you need high light and Ei simple as that.

Ive tried it and failed. I just planted my second attempt this afternoon. Ive always had EI and high light but It eventually was over-run by algae. I think it came down to two problem.

1. My tank was young and didn't have enough fast growers to combat the early algae blooms.
2. I planted in large clumps which never really had the chance to take root. Ive seperated this new pot into individual plants and tried to plant them best I can.

You might not experience the same problems but I think they are worth considering.

P.S Arif, did you get my message about Gertrudaes Blue Eyes? I noticed you were after some.

im not an expert as some might know but ive had algea recently it coverd all my hc (its was growing nicely but was cover in algea) so i painfully pulled it out and replanted it

but my tanks newish (about 2 months maybe more) i also didnt have enough plants how ever they have filled out really well now so ill see if its better this time

also i believe planting in small clumps is better

HC is best separated into individual stems, rather than planting in clumps. In my experience of trying both ways, individual stems always works best. It does take sodding ages thou.

Yeh tweezers. Which bit do you mean is expensive? The HC or the tweezers. TBH I've got both long and short and I find the short ones far easier to use. And the smaller point doesn't disturb the substrate as much as the large tweezers. You want to get something like these

Or these

Look good :)

I meant tweezers and scissors. I've seen "professional" sets for something like £125 or some ludicrous price!
