having trouble identifying a fish

I don't have a digital camera, but here it goes. He's a pale yellow color with black stripes down his sides and up his fins. Most of the time, his belly is jet black, but today i added new fish to the tank and immediately his belly turned yellow. Can anyone please identify this fish for me? He's also about 3" long if that helps. Also, what does the changing belly color mean??

Apparently he enjoys the new fish i put in the tank. he killed 4 neon tetras in under an hour. One was bones. geez.

Sounds like some kind of african cichlid, possibly Pseudotropheus crabro?

This fish doesn't have any vertical stripes though. Its like he's all yellow with two black racing stripes, with a little yellowish/white inbetween.
