I have a virtually brand new camera, it has macro and 8mp and loads of other fancy stuff.

But my problem is that I can't get a good photo of my fish. If I turn off all lights, tv etc. Leave tank lights on and turn flash off on my camera, I still cant get a good photo.

I was just wandering how everyone else does it? Because I have seen some great photos on this forum.

There is a sticky above on how to take good photos. If you turn the flash off you will just get blurry pics, unless you have a tripod and the fish stay still. I use the flash to take pics of my fish all the time.

I have tried with and without flash, I have tried all different ways, and i spent most of yesterday trying to take photos and just ended up with either blurs or bright light that had refelcted off the glass.
Im not surewhat to do next.

What cam are you using? I use supermacro everytime I take fish pics. Don't worry, you'l get used to you cam eventually. Knowing how far from the object you hold your camera is all part of learning how to use it. How about reading the book it came with? Although I never read mine and just experimented instead.

it is a samsung digimax v800. I have read the book so many times. Its doing me head in LOL
I think i gonna have to just keep taking photos and hoping i get a good one.

practise, practise, practise. I use a cheap, ish 6mp compact camera. it has macro mode, and a nice big view screen to help.

advice? Get as close to the glass as you can, try to have an angle that allows any reflections, to be avoided. if you try a shot, and it comes out bad, try it again with say, the camera held at a different angle.

this pic is ok but you can see i could have done with cleaning the glass first lol.

this one is suffering from "flash back" this can often be solved by aggressive cropping in your editor.
