I decided to test my tank water tonight. No issues there, ammonia and nitrites all absolutely fine, pH coming in at the usual ~7.5 or thereabouts.

However, when redoing some of the tests, I held the test tube in my hand and left the hood latch up on the tank while I used a pipette to remove water from the tank and squirt it into the test tube. While doing so, a little bit of spittle/splash-back came up out of the test tube (only ever so tiny - absolutely tiny - a fraction of the size of a normal droplet; or, at least that's what I saw come out at the time). I think it might have gone into the tank. Now, bear in mind this is a test tube I last used about the 25th July for testing, and on the day I emptied it and swilled it with some tap water (I left it to dry, I didn't actually dry it myself); and I also had not added any test reagents to the test tube today at that point when this spittle/splash-back came out (it was just tank water).

I'm not overly concerned, and I'm trying to not obsess, but I still feel like I'm close to having one of those moments where I fear I've poisoned the fish, and that somehow there was something of a test reagent in that bit of spittle that was left over from the previous testing.

I can relax, can't I? I don't need to worry myself over this, do I?

You have no need to worry, honestly :)
