Have You Used Protozin From Waterlife?

Well at least we won the rugby! though Italy were really feisty.

Back to the tank - I'd post a pic if only my teenage daughter was listening/speaking to me today - she's the only one with a digi camera in the house

Fish seem fine today after their med although the angels are lurking more than usual and less busy, the guppys are near the surface and Colin the Trilobite (borneo sucker belonging to said daughter) has been about on the front of the tank more than he usually is and near the surface.
The water is still translucent - not clear - not cloudy as in suspended solids - which is what I described yesterday as milky but it's not so white or so opaque tonight

Big problem making sure Harry doesn't drink the tank water as he likes to 'help' me with the fish - he's my African grey and I don't think all the chems do him any good!

You need to increase aeration with an airstone as meds take 02 out of the water.

um
Have you used Protozin?
just that it is for Whitespot, fungus, velvet etc

I really don't want diagnosis help
I really want help from someone who has used this med about the way the med behaves and the way the fish are affected
Thanks Wilder, But you are not helping. It is just the one round neat ball on the lip and not mouth fungus. probably a growth but I thought I'd use a strong(waterlife) potion against fungus as the guppy has just started with a tiny speck and see if it did anything for the Danio. Don't have a camera, I'm afraid.

and no-one else is saying anything

Please?
pretty please???
My "tiger rasboras"(Inlecypris auropurpureus or Kultarasbora) have this. They have since I got them. The "expert" at the store said it was a protuberance that the males get to rub on females when they are sexually mature.

I also read somewhere that some rasboras do get this and it happens at sexual maturity....

I don’t know if this is correct regarding my fish, just a thought. I also know you have a danio but my rasboras are thought of as danios by many in the ichthyology area....

Hi Newfishaddict. Thanks for reply
How interesting - not heard that before.
I have 6 zebra danios - I think 4 male and 2 female - they all looked the same as juveniles when I gor them but 2 are distintctly plumper and more round in the belly now so I think these 2 are female
It is one of the 'boys' -called Danny Baldwin, they are all called Danny something and UK peeps will know Danny Baldwin from Corri - who has the lip lump. really doesn't seem to bother him - no one else has developed one. It hasn't changed since it first appeared.

My rasboras are rasbora heteromorpha - harlequin rasboras and they are one of my real favs. They really school - especially when Sharkey is feeling frisky(RTBS). Not that he bothers the rasbs - but he chases the Dannys about sometimes - to dowith body morphology I'm sure - thinks they are juvenile sharks.

Before adding any meds to the water you must get a correct or as near correct diagnosis as you can first.
What you are describing sounds like a tumour and the fungus a secondary infection or it could well be mouth fungus forming which is bacterial rather than a true fungus.
The meds you are using shouldnt turn the water milky so it must be reacting to something you added, either the cycle or the plant food.
Hope it goes ok for you.
Get lots of extra air in there as well.

Thanks Black Angel and Wilder
I increased aeration from the morning before I started the meds, as I know it takes O2 out - but it is a good point to make.

I agree BA - I think the Danio has a growth - translucent half a tiny ping pong ball. definately not mouth fungus as no progression at all over several weeks and Danny is still feeding, perky and givin it large

The fluff on the guppy is definately fungus and I'm hoping half strength protozin will be enough to take it out of my set-up.

I had a sick angel a couple of weeks back so they all had a trip through anti bac meds.

Much as I hate tipping meds inthe water!

Water is no longer at all milky - seemes to have been a day 1 reaction - very odd then?
And fish are all perky - today Angels happily back to yo-yoing about together. and gouramis brightened right up in colour.

Have had 3 days of half strength neds - get 2 days off and a final recurrance preventative treatment on Weds

Hope the guppy fluff has gone!
