is there a topic anywhere here on supporting/ bracing stands or building tank stands? any usefull links people have come across?

Look on the left side, scroll down to the DIY folder. This is where I began my stand building adventures years ago.

For furniture that may need more support choose items with drawers. Remove the drawers and brace internally, leaving room for the drawer fronts. Pull the fronts off of the drawers, tack them to the front for a nice appearance.
