I have a pair of convicts and recently they have been way more territorial...they have a little spot of the tank staked out and never leave it unattended...

One will swim away, usually the male, to make sure the salvini keeps his distance...I cant see if there are any eggs down there but when i put my hand in the water nothing i can do will give me enough time to move any rocks before the female is threatening to grab me lol

They started this yesterday i think, just noticed it then anyway...

Also how long would i be able to keep the babies in with the adults?
The tank is 55 gallons with 2 convicts 1 salvini 1 pleco

They (on average) lay about 300 to 500 eggs..... You can keep 'em in there and raise about 20 fry,.... or you could syphon out the fry once they are bouncers and raise about 200.... Your choice.

Thanks for the replies...well i dont think i want to have to deal with rehoming 200 so ill go with about 20 lol...Thanks again!

They will take care of the batch well. I had a pair keep over a 150 fry for over 2 months before shwoing agression towards the fry!

wow thats great! thanks for the reply Krib...Well i went out of town saturday night and just got home to find...swimming babies!! lol the only problem is, the males face looks a bit chewed up, im guessing the savini had a go at the new borns and roughed him up a bit...It looks like there are probably only 50 babies but who knows, maybe the salvini got away with a few lol ;)
