i have a 2028 and its brilliant.never had a fx5 so cant comment though

Morning all. Nick, I dont think the fluva filter is noisy to be honest but I have read that some people dont like the hum it makes, (I dont hear a hum) but then again I dont hear much over the sound of niagra falls, especialy when the water levels drops below the filters outlet. I have 2 tanks up stairs which drown out the noise of the tanks downstairs.

Mbuna dave, they are the dogs nadds, and with only recently starting to keep malawi again, I figured I would go for the descent equipment from the onset, as appossed to waisting money trying out other filters. I think the last tank I had, ended up with several filters and even together they waren't that good.

A lesson well learnt, the best filtration you can afford. (and if you cant afford it!!! flirt like hell). :good:

Brewyn can I ask how you go about attaching 2 externals to 1 tank ? Do you have 2 x intakes and outputs/powerheads and how do you position them ? Or some other way.

(sorry if this is going slighlty off topic)

I keep them completely seperate, 1 input and output for each filter at opposite ends of the tank. This helps to ensure that all areas of the tank are covered evenly.

Hi nick. I have the fluval attached to the 2 sump holes already drilled into the tank, and the eheim is connected as you would normaly set one up, over the sides of the tank. the fluva looks great but the eheim looks a bit untidy. I'm In the middle of negotiating another 6ft tank, so if I manage to sway the guy I will place one over the other and run both the fluvals on them. I will draw the water from the bottom tank up to the top one, and allow it to over flow via pipes etc back to the bottom one. I will use one 300w external heater to run both tanks with possibly an spare internal as an emergancy backup. cant wait to get my living room back. :)

all my inlet and outlets are situated at the same end of the tank, with both filters, this gives me a good current circulation and its why most of my c**p ends up in a neat pile in one corner and not scattered everywhere :good:

Thanks guys I did wonder whether they could be daisy-chained together or the pipework connected somehow. Right more inlets and outlets prevents dead spots and like you say more water movement = more oxgen and a better current - better all round. The only slight downside is more visible pipework I suppose.
