Was reading another thread on size of filter and someone said you need a filter 3 times the size of your tank for Cichlids. My tank says it's 290L and I bought the Eheim Pro II thermofilter 2126 which is for tanks up to 350L it says filter volume 4,91/1,08 Imp Gals and pump output 950L per hr 209 Imp gals per hour. Have a made a boob and bought too small a filter?

Thats fine Cheffi, it pumps out 3 times your tank volume per hour and its a cracking filter. :D

you beat me to it ferris, cheffi, your filter is pumping out much more than reccomended, which is what I said was better :good:

Did you get a brewyn bargain though?

NO ONE WILL GET BARGAINS LIKE ME!!!!! hahaha IF YOU DONT ASK, YOU DONT GET.

both these for about £120 and the eheim is the 2028 model, 130 gallons an hour

and my most rescent the fluval 204 for a measly £10

Very nice but you obviously know what you're talking about re filters and I assume they are maybe ebay bargains (2nd hand).

I bought mine on the recommendation of bloo and I wouldn't have had a clue buying one 2nd hand but on the net my model ranges up to over £200 and I think I paid £144.95 inc postage which I thought wasn't bad.

the fluval FX5 is brand new from a shop, and the eheim pro 2 I managed to pick up with a 250 gallon protein skimmer for a measly swap for a 300w external heater I bought as a spare.

yep!!! that was me, it got deleted for being off topic. :sly:
