I've got a pair of juvenile females at the moment, I was ill advised at the fish shop and given two females not 1 male and 1 female.

At the time when I saw them in the shop I thought they were great looking. But I have since seen the Ramirez (sp?) cichlids...
Otherwise know as gold and blue rams?

Well anyways, they're so much more colorful which has made me a bit dissapointed with my girls. Is it just that females are naturally duller. And will a male bolivian ram be alot more impressive?

I'm selling one of my girls in the near future anyways as they've been bickering.
And if they are always going to be...well a bit dull. Then I think I'll end up selling the second girl once she's fully grown.

Yeah i think it's best to have a male to a female. females tend to fight over territories.
I have 3 (1m 2f) and will be getting another male when i can.
My boy is just as colourful as the girls. although when i first got them they were a bit dull

I do think they're great personalitywise.
But I also think, if I can have a fish full of personality AND very colourful...that's what I'd rather have

Mine are really colourful
try altering their diet a bit and see if their colour improves
mine have lovely red fins and yellowy bodies
both the male and the female alike

What are the main differences between bolivian and german rams? I cant seem to find much info between the differences :S Was concidering adding a male and female to my comunity tank but want to be sure they would fit in well. Smallest fish in there are some pacific blue eyes and some ember tetras so I need to be sure they wont see thoes as food and that there attitude is sim to the german ones!
