Has Anyone Experience With The Large Aquaone Tanks

Hi

I have just been out looking for a tank and I quite like the look of the large aqua one tanks with the built in lid filter and light system.

I am looking at the 210Litre AR980.

They seem good value for money and I like the idea of not having a lot of filters etc inside the tank itself.

Has anyone any experience of these tanks and would you recommend them? Is the filtration good enough?

My place of work uses one as a display tank

The supplied lights are good, as is the tank. I don't rate wither the stands or the in-lid filtration however. The stand wobbles both with the tank on and the tank off This can put large amounts of stress on the glass, leading to a crack in one of the panes Also, the tank was returned, as the customer found the filter to leak. Water is pumped into the filter, and flows out again due to gravity, thus if the media cloggs, the tank pumps itself empty If you can get a better stand, and can get a good exturnal canister, like a fluval, ehiem, rena or tetratec, you will probible have a good experience woth the tank, otherwise.....

This is just my opinion of them though, and I guess the wobble in the stand could have been down to the fact that it was flat-packed again, after initial assembly

I tend to agree. I have a 70 litre Aqua One which is ok other than having to replace the bulb 2 months after buying it, but the build quality of Aqua One tanks is never up to much IMO.

They are cheap and cheerful and do exactly what they say on the tin, but i think it's definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for'. If you can afford it, i'd go with a Juwel or Fluval or Rena, or even something like Clearseal.

I've never had a large Aqua One personally, but have heard lots of bad things about them, mainly with the hardware.

My friend has 50g one, the only problems he's had is a breaking filter that got returned and something else.

My friend has had one now for over 18 months now I think. I'm not sure about the size of it but she has had little to no problems with it. I asked all the pet shops around where I live about them too and they use them without too much problems also

I myself have an AR850 one and it seems fine, though I have only had it set up for over 2 weeks now. The water was very murky when I first set it up but the filter did a great job cleaning it all. My stand is completely fine and doesn't move. And as far as if the filter media clogs, just make sure you rinse it every now and then to keep it free of dirt.

Mine also came with a good warranty from the pet shop so if something should happen I can get it fixed without too much trouble.

I am less keen now than I was.... I still may get one but I think I will 'do the rounds' again before finally making a purchase.

The consequences of a blocked filter sound a bit alarming - I don't have a 200Litre carpet! - and I have googled and found that the filters can be a bit noisy with water running back into the tank. I want this to be in the living room so I need it to be fairly quiet.

Trouble is - as you all know - a largish tank becomes quite difficult to change once its full of water and fish if you have problems so you wanna get one you can be happy with and confident in.

I have a Aqua One Aquience Cube one of the newer models available it holds 220 litres of water. Ive only had it set up since june but it is a solid tank and looks lovely.The only problem i had was when i got it i had a dodgy light unit but that was exchanged for another one and ive had no problems since. It has an external filter but it works fine providing you do regular tank maintenance.

In the end I bought a really nice Rena 200L tank and stand with external filter.

'Sands in - 'heaters on - now I need to learn patience and start cycling it when its warmed up and the chlorine has all gone.

A bit late but i've got a 380L aqua one tank and can't fault it really! at first i was a bit annoyed with the hood as its made up of 3 strips of plastic and 2 light bars but now im used to that its great

AquaOne have become our companies main tank supplier, so lucky me gets paid to sell them,

if you want to lightly stock your tank with small tetras, etc, then i would say they're adequate but for plecs or any fish bigger than a couple of inches you would be better off finding an alternative. Also i would say that you'd be very lucky to get one that doesn't fail you in one area.

I can safely say you wouldn't see one in my house.

Excelent, I have never heard any complaints about the Rena tanks, but then I don't know anyone who has bought a set from them. If the build quality of the rest of their kit is as good as their exturnal filters, then that tank will serve you well Silent filters are always a bonus too.

A5 Aquatics in Hinckley.

I never went out to actually 'buy' one - just look - but there were 2 display models at about 100 pounds off the list so I grabbed one while it was there. I am very impressed by the build quality so far and I like the depth of it.

Still one left but you look to be a bit far away
