Has Anyone Ever Only Noticed Something Thats Been There For Ages?

Just a quick question to see if I'm just very unobservant!

I've just noticed that neon tetras have a white line on their anal (i think) fins, never noticed it before!

Anyone else ever had a fish or plasnt and only noticed a certain feature or behaviour some time after you first got them?
