My apple snail laid a clutch of eggs above the water line last nearly two weeks ago, now after doing some reading on the internet it seem that they take between 4-5 weeks to hatch out, on saturday I noticed the clutch of eggs was floating in the tank so I went to pick it out, as I did it just fell to bits and hudreds of little apple snails fell out and needless to say the fish had a feast.
I thought that was it but on the sunday morning I noticed little tiny miniature apple snails climbing up the glass, how is this possible they were only in the egg for less than two weeks but so what they look so cute, the grandkids love them, good job I,ve no loaches in there. :good:

The snails you saw, had already hatched. My snails normally hatch 7 to 10 days. Sometimes if the cluster is not positioned correctly or another snail may knock them off. If you have gravel, you won't know exactly how many you have untill they get bigger. Plus with gravel vac's you may lose a few. Also not all clusters will hatch, depends on how near the light source, too near and they will dry out too much. If you do not want too many, next time just remove the cluster.

If anyone will know the Jane will! lol. I have seen first hand how many she has breeding for her. Some of them are now quite happily sliding around my tank! :good:

I have breed approx 400-600 apple snails cute little things. A clutch can contain lots of eggs my 1st was 200+ strong. None of mine have taken 5 weeks i hatch them out after approx 14-21 days. if they fall into the water at a young stage they will drown but if near the end the snails chew the egg for food untill they drop out often they are readsy before
