I went into my LFS to get some info regarding my new tank which I am going to add CO2 to. I was orginally going to purchase the Nutrafin unit that everybody raves about in this forum but he pointed out what looked like a much cooler product. It was made by Tetra-Fish and was in a green canister, similar to a fire extinguisher and was very well priced. I won't try and explain it anymore just follow the link below. Just wondering if anybody has tried this system or not. The very reputable LFS had this on in all it's display tanks and it is much easier to conceal than the Nutrafin unit. I am thinking of getting 2 for my new Rio 180 which I should have in a week or so!! :hey:

CO2 Unit

Well if that tetra unit is the same one being sold here its a simple upturned bell diffuser. The co2 source is the tank and you have to manually inject co2 into the bell (like a spray pain can)... I dont think you would get higher co2 levels with that one and you have to spray a few times a day :)

I opted to go diy before when i was thinking of buying one :) The nutrafin is like a semi DIY rig hehehe (correct me if im wrong on this one ! i dont own a nutrafin unit)

oh btw there was a similar thread recently !

tetra co2 optimat

That may be true Kenneth, I wouldn't know as I have never used either. Think I am going to give the Optimat a go for how much it is and how easy it is to use. I won't lose anything by trying and if it doesn't give the required reaults then I may change but If I am happy with it the Bob's Your Uncle!!

To be honest, people tend to stat away from these because you have no control of the amount of CO2 you add and as Kenneth said, you have to inject it on a daily basis which is a bit of a pain.

You could always get one and report back re your progress? Good, bad, indifferent?
