I was just wondering if anybody would know if this harlequin is pregnant or even female. :dunno:

I have 5 and no idea of the sexes. I have had them for a couple of years with no fry that I've known of

Looks like an eggy female to me. Females are generally stockier than males. Males are a little brighter colored and very streamlined looking, home that makes sense. They are egg scatterers I believe, so unless you remove them, they'll eat the eggs.

Wow, didn't know that! So are the eggs fertilised inside or out if you get my drift? I was going to put 'her' in the breeding trap but know I'm not so sure! :dunno:

They're egglayers, not livebearers, so the eggs inside of her aren't fertilized.

ok, so she lays the eggs and the male then does his thing over them? so if i put her in a trap alone she will lay un fert eggs.....right?

She'll either lay them, or just reabsorb the eggs, either way she isn't going to be happy with you for confining her. I'd just let her be, if she does lay the eggs, everyone will enjoy a nice treat. :shifty:

Sorry Doresy for not getting back to you, haven't been on for a couple of days!
Sounds like you've got it all under control though! :good:
