Cichlid set up with sand , crushed coral, ocean rock and tuffa rock( maybe tuff rock)

I have an old small piece of bog wood in there and wondering if this is counteracting raising ph?

Looking to add some dead coral pieces Sunday because my ph still ain't high enough .

When you say old, do you mean it's been in a tank before for some time?

If so, it may well have already leached away all it's tannins. If not, it might lower it a little bit but I doubt it'll be enough to drop the pH by any significant amount, especially since you have lots of coral and rock in there.

There are ways to accomplish what you want. Using Cichlids Lake Salts and/or Buffers should solve your problem.

Google is your friend: "Cichlid Salts" and "Cichlid Buffers"

How far out is your pH at the moment?

It would be work finding out what pH your fish store are running at the moment so you know how far out your pH is compared to theirs.

Fm1978 it's been in my tanks about 7 months.
Guys- before I look into adding salts/buffers I want to add more coral any way for appearance and even more territories, my ph is somewhere between 7.2-7.8. If I don't get results from dead coral rock then I will defiantly get the salt/buffer , I will check it out in the mean time

Looking up home made buffers, I can get baking soda, and salt non-iodized, but what is Epsom salt and can I get it in asda or tesco?
