I unfortunately had to rehome my albino Oscar, thought it was an albino red but turned out to a tiger. Since doing this my red has showed more interest in my hand in the tank. Is there any tips on getting them to take food from my fingers, besides just holding food?

Might be a daft question, just thought I would ask.

just make sure whatever food you are holding is quite large as they do have powerfull mouths that give quite a nip if they catch your fingers....

The large tubs of Doromin are good for hand feeding Oscars as the food is quite long. Also worms are good too, and bits of shrimp or prawn.

Why did you rehome the albino out of interest, as stated hold it in the water, try peices of prawns, dont jump like a woss when it lunges, you may damage you arm on the lid and the shock

Mine always used to eat from my hands, the funniest one i hand fed was a redtail catfish that i rehomed for someone, the way it would take it was sooo funny,
but theres always a down side

I got rid of the albino simply because I thought it was an albino red, lik Oscar. Turned out to be a tiger, which out grew the other and took in to him lik he was a toy. Had to go!

Lol, the livelink was funny...

The fish did have to jump out the water to get to whatever she was holding mind,
might of been better putting it actually into the water a little?

I sometimes feed my green terrors by hand and they also nip me if the food is above the water,
not so much if i put my hand in or the food in a little though!!
