I have some plants in one of my tanks that are like long strands of grass (sorry, I don't know the correct name  )

Anyway, they've become a little hairy to say the least and the tips of them have long hair like strands floating from them.

I presume it's some form of hair algae, but what can I do to stop it?

Any help greatly appreciated.

No to be honest I aren't doing anything as I'm quite n00b where live plants are concerned. I've just plonked them in and left them to their own devices whilst adding plant food type stuff once a week.

I have a 35 litre tank with all sorts in and that is thriving. But the tank in question has these grassy types and a couple of tall ferny types. The fern stuff is doing great and doesn't show any signs of anything other than pure growth!

Make sure to clean out all dead or dying plants. this algea tends to like it when stuff is Decaying. Remove all dying leave clean the gravle well. If you have a few leafs that are really bad take the hole leaf out Remove as much as you can.
