I have a planted 30gal tank with vall (corkscrew, wide and thin) as well as sword plants. I recently took out a whole bunch of plants and switched to sand. I have been fertilising with root tablets and "normally" have CO2 running (it isn't now as I don't have many plants and am worried about algae).....I have 3.2wpg lighting.

The LFS here has some hairgrass.....will this create a carpet if left to grow? Is it fast or slow growing? Th plant I really want (glosso) isn't available in my area ANYWHERE. Hair-type grasses available to me are hairgrass and pongol.

TIA

hiya,
i've just had some hairgrass a few weeks ago. i've found so far its growing like mad. even in the shaded areas it's putting new shoots up.

i have 2.3 wpg - it's directly under the light in one area but in a corner aswell and is doing well in both areas.

i got 3 pots, left them resting on the bottom for a week then set them. using tweasers i planted about 8 - 10 strands per clump, spacing them out around 1/2 and inch from each other.

then i cliped it down to 20mm high.

I now clip it to 25mm at all times, this seems to make it grow "out" rather than up.

fertilizer sticks are great to poke under it too to get it going.

Simon.
