Hairgrass, How To Carpet?

Hey there,

I've hairgrass. And to put it bluntly, I was wondering whether this plant 'carpets' automatically - will it put out roots to the sides and shoot up, or does one have to go about this in some special fashion?

To get it to spread out you need to trim it low regularly.

If doing daily ferts, would this still take a bit of time do you think? I'm thinking I might try for a patch in the new tank

Quickest way is always pressurised co2, full ferts and trimming, even then it takes a while so going low tech will take patience.
